Lately on social media all you see is a he said she said type of scenario whether it is our nations politicians, influencers or your own family and friends. With the continued stress of the ongoing pandemic, the upcoming holiday season, the upcoming winter months with shortened days and colder weather it is more important now than ever before that women start supporting women.
How? If there is a woman owned business in your neighborhood, go shop even if you only spend a minimal amount and share the purchase on social media. If there is not a woman owned business in your neighborhood, there are many on the internet, shop and share. If a friend or female family member makes a post about an accomplishment or family fun, like the most and make a comment like Great! and add a smiling emoji. If your sister does something out of the ordinary or accomplishes a goal, give her a shout out, it doesn't diminish you or what you have and are accomplishing.
As women, we tend to be snarky where other females are concerned. Why? Jealously? You were done wrong? A man? Imagined? Guess what, unless the other female stole your job, your child or your man, it does not matter and honestly, if they stole your man, he wasn't worth it anyway, they did you a favor. As women, we need to stop holding grudges, we need to open ourselves up to the fact that we need to support each other. If women started supporting each other, started to band together and use our buying power, our intelligence, our love we can move mountains.
Next time you meet up with a female friend at lunch, don't hold back the compliments and the positive vibes, give that so that she will reciprocate with co-workers, family members and other friends. It is like a dominio effect. As we all embrace each other some of the stress, anxiety and exhaustion we hold in will lessen, we might even find ourselves relaxing more at work and home.
Remember supporting women is supporting yourself.
